Applicant Management Reimagined
A Gmail-style inbox for hiring. Star, tag, rate, prioritize, and bulk-manage every candidate from one panel.
Everything You Need in One Panel
Manage your entire candidate pipeline from a single inbox view. No tab-switching, no context-switching.
Star & Favorite
Mark standout candidates with a single click. Starred applicants surface to the top of your inbox so you never lose track of high-potential talent during high-volume hiring.
Reject with Reason
Reject candidates with a structured reason code. Build a history of rejection rationale for compliance, team calibration, and future reference when similar roles open again.
Archive & Spam Filter
Keep your active inbox clean. Archive candidates you have reviewed and filter out spam applications automatically so your team focuses only on real applicants.
Priority Tiers & Star Ratings
Organize candidates with four priority tiers and a 0–5 star rating system for granular evaluation.
4-Tier Priority System
Assign candidates to HIGH, MEDIUM, LOW, or UNRANKED tiers. Drag-and-drop to reorder candidates within each tier for precise ranking. Priority tiers let your team align on who to interview first without endless Slack threads.
0–5 Star Rating
Rate every candidate from 0 to 5 stars. Combine star ratings with priority tiers for a two-dimensional evaluation system that captures both urgency and quality. Filter and sort by rating across your entire pipeline.
Color-Coded Tags & AI Auto-Tags
Tags That Work for You
Create custom color-coded tags to categorize candidates by skill set, source, stage, or any dimension your team needs. Tags are visible across the inbox, profile panel, and pipeline views.
CurriculoATS also generates AI auto-tags based on resume analysis. When a candidate applies, the system automatically tags them with relevant skills, experience level, and role-fit indicators, saving you manual categorization work on every single application.
Transfer candidates between jobs without losing their tags, notes, or activity history. Move candidates between pipeline stages with a single drag-and-drop or bulk action.

Built for Every Hiring Workflow
High-Volume Startup Hiring
When you receive 200+ applications for a single role, bulk actions and AI auto-tags let you triage in minutes instead of hours. Star your top 10, bulk-reject the rest with structured reasons, and move forward.
Collaborative Team Evaluation
Multiple hiring managers can rate candidates independently using star ratings and internal notes. Team chat channels keep evaluation discussions organized per candidate without cluttering Slack or email.
Cross-Role Talent Sourcing
A great candidate for one role might be perfect for another. Transfer candidates between jobs with a single action, their entire profile, notes, and history move with them.
Compliance & Audit Trail
The activity timeline logs every action on every candidate: who moved them, when, why they were rejected, and what emails were sent. Built-in audit trail for compliance without extra tooling.
What is applicant management?
Applicant management is the work of receiving, sorting, evaluating and answering every person who applies for a job. It starts when a resume arrives and ends when you send an offer or a rejection. Applicant management software keeps that work in one place instead of spread across an inbox, a spreadsheet and three Slack threads.
There is a difference between storing applications and managing them. A shared inbox stores them. It cannot tell you which of yesterday's forty resumes deserve a call, which teammate already replied, or why you passed on someone in March when a similar role opens in July. Applicant management software answers all three, because every action leaves a record attached to the candidate rather than to whoever happened to handle them. That record is what turns a pile of applications into a pipeline you can run. Teams usually outgrow the shared inbox at the point where one role draws more applications than a person can hold in their head.
Applicant management vs applicant tracking
The two terms describe the same software from different angles. Applicant tracking describes where a candidate sits in your process. Applicant management describes what you do about it. Most vendors, including us, ship both in one product, so treat them as two faces of one tool rather than two categories.
| Question you are asking | The term for it | What the software gives you |
|---|---|---|
| Where is this candidate right now? | Applicant tracking | Stages, pipeline views, status history |
| Who should I talk to first? | Applicant management | Ratings, priority tiers, AI scoring |
| What did we decide, and why? | Applicant management | Notes, reason codes, activity timeline |
| How many people are in each stage? | Applicant tracking | Pipeline counts, funnel reporting |
| Can two of us review without colliding? | Applicant management | Per-recruiter notes, team channels |
If you are comparing tools, ignore which of the two words a vendor puts on its homepage. Ask instead whether the product does the second column as well as the first. Plenty of systems track candidates accurately and still leave the deciding to a spreadsheet.
What applicant management software does
Six jobs cover almost everything hiring teams need. A tool that does five of them well beats one that does twelve badly.
| Job | What good looks like |
|---|---|
| Collect | Every application lands in one place regardless of source, with no manual re-entry |
| Deduplicate | The same person applying twice does not become two records |
| Evaluate | A consistent score or rating that everyone on the team reads the same way |
| Prioritize | An explicit order of who to contact first, not just a date-sorted list |
| Communicate | Replies, templates and full thread history attached to the candidate |
| Retain | Past applicants stay searchable and reusable when the next role opens |
Retention is the one teams skip and later regret. The candidate you passed on for a senior role in spring is often the right answer for a different role in autumn, but only if you can still find them and still remember why you said no.
Is CV management the same thing?
CV management is a smaller job inside applicant management. It covers storing resumes, pulling structured data out of them, and searching that data later. Applicant management covers the CV plus everything around it: the conversation, the ratings, the team's notes and the decision.
A dedicated CV management tool makes sense when resumes arrive without a matching job opening, which is common for agencies building a bench. For everyone hiring against live roles, a CV database on its own creates a second place to look. You search resumes in one system, track replies in another, and the two drift apart within a month. Curriculo parses each resume on arrival, extracts skills, education and work history into searchable fields, and keeps the original file one click away in the same panel as the email thread.
How to choose applicant management software
Five questions do most of the work when you are comparing options.
| Ask this | Why it decides the outcome |
|---|---|
| Does pricing scale with seats? | Per-seat pricing taxes collaboration. You start leaving people out of reviews to control cost |
| How long until the first job is live? | Setup measured in weeks assumes a dedicated admin that most small teams do not have |
| Can candidates apply without an account? | Forced account creation costs you applicants before they ever reach you |
| Does the free plan cap jobs or candidates? | A one-job free tier is a trial wearing a different name |
| Can you export everything? | If export is hard, switching later becomes a project rather than a decision |
Curriculo's answers, for the record: no per-seat fees on any plan, first job live in about fifteen minutes, candidates apply by email with no account to create, the free Starter plan carries unlimited job listings and 1,000 candidates for life, and CSV export works on every plan including the free one.
How much does applicant management software cost?
Pricing follows three models, and the model matters more than the headline number.
| Model | How it bills | Where it hurts |
|---|---|---|
| Per seat | A monthly fee for each user | Cost rises every time you add a reviewer, so teams quietly under-invite |
| Per job slot | A fee for each open role | Cost spikes at exactly the moment hiring accelerates |
| Flat | One price regardless of seats or roles | Predictable, but check the candidate ceiling before you commit |
Curriculo is flat. The Starter plan is free for life and covers unlimited job listings with up to 1,000 candidates ranked by Impact Score. Pro is $100 per month, currently $50 per month on early-bird pricing, and raises the ceiling to 10,000 candidates with unlimited jobs and unlimited team seats. Neither plan charges per user, so adding a hiring manager to a review costs nothing.
What is an applicant management system?
An applicant management system is software that collects job applications, organizes them into a reviewable pipeline, and records every rating, note and reply against the candidate. It replaces the combination of a shared inbox, a spreadsheet and a chat thread that most small teams start with.
Do I need applicant management software for a small team?
It depends on volume rather than headcount. At low application counts a shared inbox usually holds together. Past that point the problem is rarely a lost resume. It is a lost decision, where nobody can say who reviewed a candidate or why they were passed over.
Can applicant management software work without an application form?
Yes. Curriculo accepts applications by email. Candidates send a resume to your job address and the system parses it, scores it and files it, with no portal and no account for the applicant to create.
What is the difference between a CV database and applicant management software?
A CV database stores and searches resumes. Applicant management software does that and also carries the pipeline stage, the ratings, the email history and the audit trail. A database answers who applied. Applicant management answers what you decided and why.
Can I bulk-manage candidates?
Yes. CurriculoATS supports bulk email, bulk priority assignment, bulk read/unread toggling, and bulk reorder, all from the main applicant inbox.
What’s in the applicant profile?
Each applicant profile includes an AI evaluation score (0–100%) with reasoning, AI-generated summary and tags, resume preview and download, GitHub profile card, skills display, education and experience, custom form responses, activity timeline, email thread history, private internal notes, and team chat channels.
Can I transfer candidates between jobs?
Yes. You can transfer any candidate from one job to another without losing their profile data, notes, or activity history.
How do priority tiers work?
CurriculoATS uses four priority tiers: HIGH, MEDIUM, LOW, and UNRANKED. You can drag-and-drop candidates to reorder them within each tier for precise ranking.
Are internal notes private?
Yes. Internal notes are private per recruiter. Only the recruiter who wrote a note can see it, ensuring confidential evaluation without cross-contamination.
