Greenhouse supports structured hiring but does not publish prices. Core, Plus and Pro use custom quotes with fees based on employee headcount unless the Order Form says otherwise. Vendr reports a third-party estimated yearly median of $26,570, while PriceLevel reports a third-party estimated median of $12,250, checked Oct 19, 2026.

Core, structured hiring basics
Core provides interview kits and scorecards for consistent evaluation, plus scheduling, sourcing, CRM, reporting and analytics. It also includes AI Notetaker and Real Talent Talent Matching. It fits organizations building repeatable hiring practices without the operational controls in higher plans. Buyers request a quote through the pricing page.
Plus, automation and reporting
Plus targets organizations adding teams, locations or brands. It includes Core plus AI-powered report filters, the Business Intelligence Connector, Sourcing Automation, texting, and Real Talent fraud and spam detection.
Its value depends on whether deeper reporting and automation solve current needs. Greenhouse says customers can upgrade at any time, so buyers can select for present requirements. See the Greenhouse pricing page.
Pro, governance and developer tools
Pro targets hiring across regions and business units. It adds unlimited CRM events, enterprise-level data configuration and security, an audit log, a developer sandbox and sync. Greenhouse also lists multi-brand job boards and granular user permissions.
These capabilities suit organizations that need controlled access, shared standards and technical extensibility now. See the pricing page.
Older plan names, Essential, Advanced and Expert
Vendr and PriceLevel records use Essential, Advanced and Expert, while Greenhouse now uses Core, Plus and Pro.
Greenhouse publishes no mapping between those names. Historical records provide context but cannot establish current plan contents or prices. Confirm the package in your quote and Order Form.
What buyers report paying

The medians differ by more than twofold because samples, company sizes and deal years differ. Do not average them. Compare your quote with organizations of similar size and scope.
How Greenhouse pricing works
Billed on employee headcount, not recruiter seats
The Greenhouse Master Subscription Agreement says fees are based on customer employee headcount unless the agreement or Order Form states otherwise. The count includes employees of affiliates with access.
Company size may therefore affect cost even with a small recruiting team. Ask whether pricing uses current or projected headcount and how growth changes fees. Buyers seeking ATS pricing without per-seat fees should compare the full pricing basis.
Annual, prepaid and non-refundable
Section 5 of the Greenhouse Master Subscription Agreement says fees are due in advance and based on purchased services, not actual usage. Payment obligations are non-cancelable and non-refundable, except for specified termination circumstances.
Professional Services may cover implementation, migration, training and custom development under a separate addendum and statement of work. API use above Order Form limits may incur added fees.
Auto-renewal and price increases
The Greenhouse Master Subscription Agreement says subscriptions renew automatically for one year unless either party gives written notice at least 30 days before renewal. For terms of at least one year, Greenhouse provides notice at least 60 days before automatic renewal. It also reserves the right to increase fees upon renewal.
Track both deadlines. If considering migrating off Greenhouse, evaluate options before the notice window closes.
Hidden costs to budget for
Subscription price is only part of the true cost of an ATS. Include services, add-ons, growth and renewals.
Implementation and onboarding
Vendr gives a third-party estimate from "a few thousand dollars" for small deployments to "significant five-figure amounts" for complex enterprise implementations, checked Oct 19, 2026. It says onboarding, migration, training and configuration are charged separately.
The Greenhouse Master Subscription Agreement treats Professional Services separately. Request exact activities, deliverables, assumptions and fees.
Headcount growth and extra users
Because the Greenhouse Master Subscription Agreement bases fees on employee headcount unless stated otherwise, company growth can affect cost.
Vendr advises confirming whether a quote uses current or projected headcount. It also notes possible user expansion or usage overage fees in some contracts. These are contract-specific, not universal charges. Model expected company size and hiring activity.
Add-ons such as Sourcing Automation
Greenhouse now lists Sourcing Automation in Plus. One PriceLevel buyer report shows a third-party estimated $36,000 yearly Advanced deal, checked Oct 19, 2026, including Sourcing Automation for up to 500 employees. Within that deal, Sourcing Automation had a third-party estimate of $2,000 per user per year, checked Oct 19, 2026.
This historical deal is not a current rate. Confirm what your plan includes and which items are priced separately.
Renewal increases
Vendr gives a third-party estimate of 3 to 7% yearly for typical escalation clauses, checked Oct 19, 2026. The Greenhouse Master Subscription Agreement allows fee increases at renewal.
Your Order Form controls the actual terms. Request a renewal cap, model several years and begin discussions before contractual deadlines.
How to negotiate a Greenhouse quote
Vendr's recommendations provide a practical starting point:
- Engage early with a clear timeline.
- Consider discussions near fiscal quarter-end in March, June, September or December.
- Use your approved budget and credible alternatives.
- Ask about multi-year terms. Vendr gives a third-party estimate of 10 to 25% discounts for multi-year contracts, checked Oct 19, 2026.
- Negotiate add-ons and Professional Services before signing.
- Request a renewal cap, potentially tied to CPI.
- Begin renewal discussions 90 to 120 days before renewal.
Use these questions to ask an ATS vendor with an ATS evaluation checklist.
Questions to ask on your Greenhouse demo:
- How does the quote define employee headcount?
- What renewal cap appears in the Order Form?
- What does implementation include?
- Which add-ons support our workflow?
- What multi-year discount is available?
- What renewal or cancellation notice applies?
When Greenhouse is worth it
Greenhouse can justify its cost when its structure and controls solve current problems:
- Core provides interview kits and scorecards for structured interviews at scale.
- Plus and Pro support hiring across regions, business units or brands with multi-brand job boards, granular permissions, an audit log and a developer sandbox.
- Capterra reports 4.2 of 5 for value for money, with 83% of 51 ratings calling value good or excellent.
- Your organization has budget and an owner for the hiring process.
When it is probably not worth it:
- Capterra's summary says pricing can impede smaller companies or startups, especially those below 25 employees or without significant growth plans.
- Headcount billing reflects company size, not only current hiring volume.
When a lighter ATS makes more sense
A lighter ATS may fit teams that need job posting, candidate evaluation and hiring coordination without enterprise governance or a custom sales process. Compare required capabilities, implementation effort and predictable multi-year cost. If published pricing matters, review the Curriculo vs Greenhouse comparison.
