Most applicant tracking systems bill you for the size of your hiring team. Add an interviewer, pay more. Here is the plain version of how per-seat ATS pricing works, what it costs as you grow, and which systems skip it.

Read the third column again. Four of these systems land between $5,900 and $7,700 a year for five people, and that figure keeps moving up with every seat. Curriculo charges the same $1,200 a year whether five people use it or fifty, and zero if you stay on the free Starter plan.
Why most ATS charge per seat
Per-seat pricing exists because it ties the vendor's revenue to your headcount. As your team grows, their bill grows with it, no product changes required. From the vendor's side it is a clean model. From your side it is a fee that rises every time hiring is going well, which is exactly when you can least afford friction.
The real cost is behavioral. Once each login has a price, teams start rationing seats. A hiring manager who should be reading candidates gets left out to save a line item. An interviewer shares one borrowed login. Feedback ends up in a side channel instead of the system you are paying for. Per-seat pricing quietly pushes people out of the tool, and an ATS that fewer people use is a worse ATS. Charging by team size is a tax on growth dressed up as a pricing tier.
What flat-rate pricing actually saves
